What Can Bodywork Do?
Bodywork can create an impact on one's life on a variety of different levels- from the mechanical moving of fluids and reorganization of tissues, which is imperative to one's overall health, to the balancing of neural activity, which is the most ubiquitous organizing principle in the body. There are many reasons why people choose to receive bodywork, and the intent of the therapist and the receiver can make a huge impact on the type of results that come through a given treatment.
I often liken bodywork to peeling an onion -- getting to a deeper layer with each session, uncovering what it is your body is wanting to express. I believe in the cumulative effects of this work, and appreciate the process of creating an upward spiral in a person's health, rather than simply maintaining their current state of being. Because of this, I offer incentives for those clients who choose to see me on a more regular basis.
Modalities
Rather than being wedded to one modality of bodywork, I like to play with a blend of styles and come up with the appropriate combination for the person on the table and the treatment needed on that particular day. This way, my work can be integrated and truly client-centered.
